Pinterest Inspires Home Design Ideas

Posted on April 26, 2012 By vkinney (Edit) Leave a Comment

Where do you look for home design inspiration? Do you pick up shelter magazines like House Beautiful or Elle Décor? Do you dream up ideas based on what you have seen in the homes of family members and friends? Or perhaps you may be one of the thousands that are pinning up ideas on your virtual pinboards on one of the latest social networking sites, Pinterest.

Pinterest works like a virtual pinboard. Users can search the Pinterest database or upload their own photos to create inspiration boards on any topic they like. They can search for images on a broad range, like “kitchens,” or they can narrow it down a bit and search for “countertops,” and then “pin” the photos they like to their boards.

One major benefit Pinterest has to offer is that users don’t have to worry about losing their photos, which can become a problem when storing photos in a scrapbook or in a folder – Pinterest keeps everything organized and in one place, which makes it easy to share your ideas with your designer.

In addition to home design ideas, people are turning to Pinterest to gather ideas for recipes, fashion, crafts, and even wedding planning ideas. However, Lauren Indvik, an editor for Mashable, told The Seattle Times that home décor and style are the most popular pinning categories.

We’re excited to say that Horner Millwork is on Pinterest and we are excited to share our ideas with you! We are adding to our boards regularly and hope that you’ll find bits of inspiration from our boards! Below is a shot of just one of our own boards, our Home Design Inspiration board.

Are you using Pinterest to gather home design ideas? If so, what do you think of it? Leave a comment and share your experience with us!
